Declaration of secondary employment
Background information
Professors at the UZH whom the Boards of the University or Vetsuisse appoint or who are employed in SNSF or ERC professorships are allowed to have secondary employment.
No authorization from the Executive Board of the University is needed for secondary employment up to one half day per week (i.e. 6 hours). An exception is for seats on a board of directors, company management, mandates with broad political implications, or the use of university infrastructure; approval in advance from the Executive Board of the University is mandatory for this. The complete declaration of secondary employment subject to authorization is described in the Regulations on Secondary Employment. Secondary employment from one-half to a maximum of one day per week (i.e. twelve hours) on average per year also requires authorization. This must be requested from the Executive Board in writing before the secondary employment begins.
Secondary employment must be declared annually. Taking an exemption into account, there is an obligation to pay a share of the net income from secondary employment.
Binding information can be found in the legal framework for secondary employment.
