The termination of a professor’s employment at UZH (with the exception if retirement) also results in their withdrawal from the pension fund (both BVK and VSAO).
As soon as the Executive Board of the University has confirmed the termination or the early departure from the University, the Professorships Department will send the professor copies of the «Freizügigkeitsleitstung» («Vested Benefits») fact sheet and the «Persönliche Erklärung» («Personal Declaration») form. The professor must indicate on the form where the vested benefits should be transferred or whether he or she wishes them to be paid out in cash. In the case of the latter, he or she must also complete the form Antrag auf Barauszahlung der Freizügigkeitsleistung («Application for Cash Payment of Vested Benefits»), which can be accessed at www.bvk.ch -> Formulare. When insured persons are married or living in a registered partnership, their partner must agree to the application for cash payment with their notarized signature. Special provisions apply to professors who move to the EU/EFTA. They are detailed on the BVK fact sheet «Freizügigkeitsleistung» («Vested Benefits»).
