Professors at UZH are entitled to 25 to 32 days of vacation per year, depending on their age. There are also various public holidays or days with reduced standard working hours. In addition to their regular vacation allowance, they may also apply to take a sabbatical, short-term absence or paid or unpaid leave as operational and organizational circumstances permit.

The Professorships Department must be notified in good time, but no later than two months before departure, of stays abroad on official absences of more than one month, so that the correct social security status can be checked. If necessary, UZH will apply to the relevant authorities for the required confirmation of posting/secondment or continuation of AHV subordination.
