Professors at UZH have the following vacation entitlements per calendar year:
From the beginning of the calendar year of a professor's 21st birthday | 25 days |
From the beginning of the calendar year of a professor's 50th birthday | 27 days |
From the beginning of the calendar year of a professor's 60th birthday | 32 days |
In the years in which the professor joins and leaves the University, vacation is granted on a pro rata basis.
Official holidays and days on which the required working hours are reduced are added to this.
As a basic principle, two weeks of vacation per year must be taken as a block. The rest of the vacation can be taken in individual days or half-days.
As a rule, vacation must be taken in the current calendar year. If this is not possible for important business or personal reasons, the remaining vacation balance must be taken by the end of June of the following calendar year at the latest.
Where professors take unpaid leave, their vacation entitlement is reduced by a twelfth (1/12) for each full month of leave.
In the event of total inability to work due to sickness or a non-work-related accident, the vacation entitlement is reduced by a twelfth (1/12) from the fourth month for each additional full month of absence. The vacation entitlement is not reduced if the inability to work is only partial.
