There is a wide variety of occasions on which professors are entitled to paid leave in addition to their ordinary vacation. Paid leave is granted in particular for family events (e.g. wedding) and personal matters (e.g. moving).
Requests for paid leave may be refused or restrictions may be imposed in the event of overriding official interests.
